HUNTERSTOWN ROVERS   2-12

YOUNG IRELANDS  1-8

Hunterstown clinched the Division 3 title as they made it eleven wins in as many games with a hard fought victory over Dundalk Young Irelands on Sunday afternoon.

The champions, who will be playing in Division 2 next year, were presented with the Macardle Cup following the game.

Hunterstown looked to be well in control of this game at half time leading 1-8 to 0-3 thanks in part to a well taken Paddy Matthews goal and accurate point scoring from Brendan Lennon.

However, the Dundalk side were a different team in the second half and they dragged themselves back into the game scoring 1-5 without reply, with the help of a Mark Savage goal,  to leave the scores level with just ten minutes to go.

Hunterstown had to dig deep and that’s exactly what they did with Brendan Lennon scoring a goal to re-establish his side’s lead once more. Further points from Lennon, David Finn and Paul Carrie ensured that the table toppers would maintain their 100% record.
